VIDEO GOES GREEN
We live in a society that has become eco friendly. In fact, as a household of two adults and four children, we have been recycling for almost ten years! Each week the amount of our recyclables is approximately 80% of our disposable garbage, garbage that normally would have ended up in landfills. Now we are Going Green with Video with the use of digital files instead of physical medium, preventing tons of material from winding up in our landfills.
About seven years ago when the meetings and entertainment industries were using VHS tape, Hollywood had already switched to DVDs. Now that Hollywood is in the process of switching to the Internet as a movie and television show delivery vehicle, businesses are following their lead. Today, meetings and entertainment industry are taking advantage of this virtually cost free video delivery method.
Video Goes Green! With digital files and the Internet, we no longer need costly and wasteful materials to deliver our videos to prospects and end users! Video packaging materials such as cardboard and plastic (which are not biodegradable) are becoming obsolete.
Currently, the best digital video delivery method is Flash Video because it is cross platform. That means it functions easily on both PC and Mac. Flash video files can be encoded from QuickTime output video files from Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro video editing systems as well as Vegas Video and Windows Movie Maker and iMovie.
The Camtasia screen capture program outputs Flash (Flv) video files and I suspect updated versions of the other video editing programs will also eventually have a Flash export video feature.
So instead of spending your money on multiple DVD copies with expensive packaging and shipping costs, Go Green and take advantage of this new delivery method by creating digital files of your video that play right from your website!
Although Flash Video is best for the Internet because of compatibility, Quick Time and Windows Media are also great digital videos files that can be easily created and used on the Internet, websites and social media networks to help you gain visibility for your business.
Talk to your Webmaster about the format that’s best for your site.
Go Green!
